About NACTTA – Northern Association of Cine & TV Technicians and Artistes

The Northern Association of Cine & TV Technicians and Artistes (NACTTA) is a government-registered trade union headquartered in Dehradun, Devbhoomi Uttarakhand. Founded to uplift and protect the interests of individuals working across cinema, television, and digital platforms, NACTTA stands as a strong pillar for both performing artistes and behind-the-scenes technicians who are the heart of regional content creation.

NACTTA actively works to ensure that artistes and technicians in Uttarakhand are heard, valued, and supported. We focus on resolving workplace disputes, securing fair treatment, and building an ecosystem where creativity can flourish with dignity. Our initiatives include legal support, healthcare assistance, training workshops, financial aid, and professional development programs — all designed to empower our members at every stage of their careers.

Our union is inclusive of newcomers, seasoned professionals, senior members, and even child artistes, ensuring equal access to rights, resources, and opportunities. Through structured stages of membership, strong ethical governance, and regular community engagement, we promote a culture of unity, integrity, and collective growth.

NACTTA’s strength is further reinforced by its proud affiliation with the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) — the apex body of film unions in India. FWICE, headquartered in Mumbai, represents over 500,000 members across the Indian film industry, including technicians, performers, and behind-the-scenes professionals. As the mother body of all Indian Cinema Associations, FWICE advocates for the rights, welfare, and working conditions of workers while setting fair industry standards nationwide.

This affiliation provides NACTTA members with national recognition and deeper protection under the FWICE framework. It ensures that the voices of artistes and technicians from Devbhoomi Uttarakhand are part of a larger movement working toward equitable treatment, sustainable careers, and industry reforms. Through this bond, NACTTA gains access to resources, influence, and representation at a national level, while contributing to the growth and unity of India’s entertainment workforce.

Together with FWICE, NACTTA upholds a shared vision — to create a just, safe, and progressive working environment for all individuals behind and in front of the camera, particularly in the evolving regional landscape of Uttarakhand.

Our commitment to Devbhoomi Uttarakhand remains at the core of our mission. By nurturing local talent and offering pathways for training, employment, and exposure, NACTTA is playing a transformative role in building a vibrant and self-sustaining film and television industry within the state.

At its heart, NACTTA is more than a union — it is a movement for respect, support, and opportunity for every individual contributing to the magic of storytelling from Uttarakhand.
